MOON CRESCENT HANDLES FOR HANDBAGS
FROM ARTIST’S SKETCHBOOK TO RECREATION

The following is a journal detailing the inspiration and creative process behind the design of this handbag.

Tokyo, 16:16, Mid-August 2024.
The sound of crickets from a Japanese temple. Carved wood wwith a glass-like finish, moulded from metacrylic. The inspiration struck as I thought of the classic Chesterfield sofa -- its luxurious folds and tufted design. I wanted to capture that same sense of rhythm and comfort, translating it into the tactile ridges of the handle. The sensation, I imagined, would be akin to running your fingers over the grooves of a vinyl record - smooth, repetitive, and oddly satisfying.

SIMONE ROCHA PRESENTATION
PATENT LEATHER VANITY BAG - 2021

In 2021, I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Simone Rocha over a Zoom call. The studio treated me with great kindness, and the experience was an important part of my journey. While I am not affiliated with Simone Rocha or her studio, I hold great respect for the work they do.

PROFESSOR / GUIDER - CARLO RIVETTI OF C.P. COMPANY & STONE ISLAND

Under the guidance of professor Carlo Rivetti, a pioneer of C.P. Company and Stone Island, this project was shaped by his deep passion for textiles and innovative thinking. Carlo’s classes on materials and the fashion industry were eye-opening, inspiring me to think outside the box and explore the endless possibilities of fibers and fabrics. His adventurous approach to material exploration left a lasting impact on my work.
